Mosesโ Staff Becomes a Snake
8ย Then theย Lordย told Moses and Aaron,ย 9ย โWhen Pharaoh says to you, โPerform a miraculous sign,โ then you are to say to Aaron, โTake your staff and throw it in front of Pharaoh.โ It will become a serpent.โ
10ย So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did what theย Lordย had commanded them. Aaron threw his staff in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.ย 11ย Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and sorcerers, and theyโalong with the Egyptian magiciansโdid the same thing with their secret arts.ย 12ย So each one threw down his staff and it became a serpent, but Aaronโs staff swallowed up their staffs.ย 13ย Yet Pharaohโs heart was stubborn[a]ย and he did not listen to them, just as theย Lordย had said would happen.
