The Great Hunger

Nelly Furtado and Bonoโ€™s 25th Anniversary Jubilee Song was meant to stir the conscience of the nations, a reminder of Jubilee justice, where debts are forgiven and the land is restored. But in Ottawa, Washington, and Brussels, the song fell on deaf ears. Politicians, caught in delusions of grandeur, staged photo-ops and endless speeches while the real problems were ignored.

The Earth groaned. Global warming twisted the seasons: rains withheld, rivers dried, crops failed. Wheat, rice, and corn shriveled in the fields. By the late 2020s, famine spread across the continents, just as the French prophet Nostradamus had warned centuries earlier. The black horse of Revelation 6 rode forth, scales in hand, measuring out grain at the price of gold.

Yet not every nation was caught unprepared. Portugal and Croatiaโ€”two small but faithful landsโ€”had studied scripture and heeded the warning. Revelation 6 taught them to prepare for the horseman of famine, and Psalm 33 gave them courage:

โ€œThe Lord saves them in times of famine;
He keeps them alive in days of scarcity.โ€

By 2033, men began dying in great numbers. Cities crumbled into hunger riots, and the proud nations of the West collapsed under their own weight. But Portugal and Croatia endured. Their people had planted, stored, and prayed. They clung close to Our Lady, and she interceded for them.

In those days, Joe and Nelly became shepherds of survival. Their songs were no longer entertainment but hymns of endurance, guiding their people through the valley of death. They shared food, water, and hope, saving lives in times of famine. The nations mocked them once, but now the world looked upon Portugal and Croatia with awe, for in their faith they had found salvation.

Portugal First

Scene: Cafรฉ Algarve. Vancouver, Canada

Nelly sips her espresso, staring at Joe across the table. The streets outside are buzzing with life, but here, in this moment, it’s just the two of them.

Nelly:

(Raising an eyebrow, smirking.)
The world is Titanic? Thatโ€™s what youโ€™re going with?

Joe:

(Leaning back, crossing his arms.)
Yeah. And you know the ruleโ€”women and children first.

Nelly:

(Skeptical.)
And what does that mean exactly?

Joe:

(Grinning.)
It means if we attend church in Fatima, Portugalโ€”theyโ€™ll give you the government. Thatโ€™s how this works.

Nelly:

(Laughs, shaking her head.)
Me? Theyโ€™d never let that happen.

Joe:

(Leaning forward, voice lower.)
The old girlfriends family. The Milanoviฤ‡ family, runss the Croatian government. We can’t go there yet. Portugal FIRST!

Nelly:

(Pausing, tapping her fingers on the table.)
And what do you want, Joe?

Joe:

(Grinning, tapping his temple.)
Right now? My spider-sense is tingling. And itโ€™s saying The Croatian Government is hostile. my gut tells go hang out with Madonna in Lisbon until they give us the entire European government.

Nelly:

(Laughs, shaking her head.)
Youโ€™re impossible.

Joe:

(Raising his coffee cup in a toast.)
No, Iโ€™m inevitable.

They clink cups. Outside, the world keeps moving, but inside this cafรฉ, a new chapter is waiting to be written.

FADE TO BLACK.

Love It or Leave It

“Forca in Exile”

Nelly Furtado and Pope Lenny sat together on the terrace of a quiet villa in the Portuguese countryside. The Atlantic breeze carried the scent of salt and wildflowers, and the setting sun painted the sky in hues of gold and crimson. The world seemed far awayโ€”America, Canada, and their constant noise were just distant memories here.

“You know, Lenny,” Nelly began, her voice contemplative, “Jesus said a prophet has no respect in their own country. I think about that a lot these days. Iโ€™ve given so much to Canada, to America, but… I donโ€™t know. Sometimes I feel like they donโ€™t see me for who I really am. Just a product, not a person.”

Pope Lenny, in his simple cassock, nodded solemnly. “Thatโ€™s the burden of being a visionary, Nelly. People only see what they want to see. But Portugal… Portugal could be different. This land has a history of explorers, of seekers, of people who dared to dream beyond the horizon. They might honor you here in ways your homeland never could.”

Nelly smiled faintly. “Portugal feels like home already. I can imagine raising my children here, starting something meaningful. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m so excited about the Forรงa Party. Itโ€™s not just about politicsโ€”itโ€™s about giving people a voice, real democracy. No more being ignored or silenced.”

Lenny leaned forward, his eyes bright with purpose. “And thatโ€™s exactly why Iโ€™m committed to helping you. Tomorrow, Iโ€™ll start working on the Forรงa Party website. Itโ€™s going to be a platform for change, a place where people can connect, share ideas, and take action. Youโ€™ve inspired me, Nelly. Together, we can build something that lasts.”

Nelly looked out at the ocean, her heart swelling with hope. “Do you think theyโ€™ll take us seriously? Leaving America, leaving Canada… it feels like such a bold move.”

Pope Lenny chuckled softly. “Bold moves are what change the world, Nelly. And besides, youโ€™re not just anyone. Youโ€™re Nelly Furtado. Youโ€™ve already proven that you can inspire millions. And as for me, well, Iโ€™m the Pope. That counts for something, doesnโ€™t it?”

They both laughed, the sound light and free against the backdrop of crashing waves.

“Portugal is ready for a renaissance,” Lenny continued. “A revival of faith, of culture, of humanity. And you, Nelly, youโ€™re the spark that can ignite it. Letโ€™s show the world what respect, honor, and true leadership look like.”

Nelly nodded, her resolve firm. “Letโ€™s do it, Lenny. Forรงa means strength, and thatโ€™s exactly what weโ€™re going to bring to Portugal.”

As the sun dipped below the horizon, they sat in silence, the weight of their shared mission filling the air. They werenโ€™t just leaving their homelandsโ€”they were stepping into a new chapter, one where they could finally be seen, heard, and respected.
