Conspiring For Peace

Joe was already seated at cafรฉ Algarve when Nelly Furtado arrived, her energy vibrant yet contemplative. She carried a notebook and a copy of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, its cover slightly worn from use.

โ€œNelly, youโ€™re glowing,โ€ Joe said as she sat down. โ€œWhatโ€™s on your mind?โ€

Nelly smiled, her eyes scanning the horizon where the waves met the sky. โ€œBig things, Joe. Iโ€™ve been thinking about world peace.โ€

Joe raised an eyebrow. โ€œWorld peace? Thatโ€™s a pretty tall order.โ€

โ€œIt is,โ€ Nelly admitted, setting her notebook and book on the table. โ€œBut someone has to dream it, right? Iโ€™ve been reading The Alchemist again, and thereโ€™s this quote that keeps playing in my mind:
โ€˜And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.โ€™

Joe nodded, intrigued. โ€œSo, you think the universe can help us achieve world peace?โ€

โ€œI do,โ€ Nelly said earnestly. โ€œBut itโ€™s not just about wishing for it. Itโ€™s about believing itโ€™s possible and taking steps toward it. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™ve been following what Antรณnio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, has been doing. Heโ€™s been advocating for diplomacy, unity, and solutions to global crises. I think he has the vision and the heart to lead the world toward peace.โ€

Joe leaned back in his chair. โ€œThatโ€™s ambitious. But how do you see it happening?โ€

Nelly opened her notebook, revealing pages filled with ideas and notes. โ€œIt starts with small, tangible actionsโ€”fostering dialogue, promoting education, addressing inequalities. But it also requires a shift in mindset. People need to believe that peace is achievable, that itโ€™s worth fighting for in a different wayโ€”through words, compassion, and collaboration.โ€

Joe glanced at her notes, impressed. โ€œAnd you think Guterres is the one to make it happen?โ€

โ€œI think heโ€™s a key figure,โ€ Nelly said. โ€œBut itโ€™s not just about one person. Itโ€™s about inspiring a movement. Thatโ€™s where the quote comes in. If enough of us truly want peace, the universe will align to help us achieve it. It might sound idealistic, but every great change starts with a dream.โ€

Joe smiled. โ€œYouโ€™ve always been a dreamer, Nelly. But youโ€™re also someone who turns dreams into reality. So, whatโ€™s your role in all this?โ€

Nellyโ€™s expression softened, but her determination was clear. โ€œI want to use my platform to amplify the message. Through music, through conversations like this, through supporting initiatives that promote peace. I know I canโ€™t do it alone, but I can be a part of the ripple effect.โ€

Joe nodded thoughtfully. โ€œItโ€™s a big dream, but I like it. And youโ€™re rightโ€”if anyone can inspire people to believe in something bigger, itโ€™s you.โ€

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting golden hues over the ocean, Nelly gazed out at the horizon. โ€œItโ€™s not just my dream, Joe. Itโ€™s humanityโ€™s dream. And I truly believe the universe is ready to conspire with us, if weโ€™re brave enough to ask.โ€

The two friends sat in silence for a moment, the weight of the conversation settling between them. In that quiet space, surrounded by the rhythm of the waves, Nellyโ€™s hope for peace felt not just possible, but inevitable.

Training, huh? Why don't we leave our weapons behind? Make it really educational.

  1. Joe had a somber look on his face, a rare departure from his usual easygoing demeanor.

โ€œWhatโ€™s on your mind, Joe?โ€ Nelly asked, sipping her herbal tea.

Joe leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. โ€œNelly, youโ€™ve been talking about world peace and the hope that leaders like Antรณnio Guterres can guide us there. But thereโ€™s something I think you should know. Something that complicates the dream.โ€

Nelly tilted her head, intrigued but cautious. โ€œGo on.โ€

Joe took a deep breath. โ€œHave you ever heard of the phrase โ€˜masters of warโ€™? Itโ€™s not just about generals or politiciansโ€”itโ€™s about the people behind the scenes. The ones funding wars, profiting from them. Banking families, for example. The Rothschilds are one of the most famous names in this context.โ€

Nelly frowned slightly, her curiosity piqued. โ€œIโ€™ve heard the name, but what do you mean? How are they involved?โ€

Joe nodded. โ€œThe Rothschild family became incredibly wealthy and influential during the 18th and 19th centuries, largely through banking. They were pioneers in creating international financial networks. During wars, they funded both sidesโ€”loaning money to governments, often with high interest. It wasnโ€™t just about the money, though. It was about power, influence, and control.โ€

Nelly set her cup down, her brow furrowed. โ€œThatโ€™s… unsettling. But why would anyone want to perpetuate war? Whatโ€™s the point?โ€

Joe sighed. โ€œWar is incredibly profitable. Governments borrow money to fund military campaigns, buy weapons, and rebuild after destruction. The ones lending the moneyโ€”these banking familiesโ€”earn massive profits from the interest. Itโ€™s a cycle. And beyond the financial gain, war destabilizes nations, making them easier to influence or control.โ€

Nellyโ€™s eyes narrowed as she processed the information. โ€œBut how does this tie into todayโ€™s world? Are you saying this still happens?โ€

Joe nodded grimly. โ€œAbsolutely. The system has evolved, but the principles remain. Modern banking institutions, multinational corporations, and defense contractors play similar roles. Itโ€™s not just the Rothschilds anymoreโ€”itโ€™s a web of powerful entities with vested interests in conflict.โ€

Nelly leaned back, her expression a mix of disbelief and determination. โ€œIf thatโ€™s true, then how do we even begin to fight against something so deeply entrenched?โ€

Joeโ€™s face softened. โ€œBy staying informed. By questioning narratives. By supporting leaders and movements that genuinely seek peace and justice, not just profit or power. And by using platformsโ€”like yours, Nellyโ€”to spread awareness.โ€

Nelly nodded slowly, her resolve hardening. โ€œItโ€™s daunting, Joe. But if what youโ€™re saying is true, it makes the quest for peace even more important. The world deserves to know whoโ€™s pulling the strings.โ€

Joe smiled faintly. โ€œItโ€™s a heavy truth, but I knew youโ€™d understand. Youโ€™ve always been about more than just the surface. Youโ€™re not afraid to dig deeper, even when itโ€™s uncomfortable.โ€

Nelly reached for her notebook, flipping to a blank page. โ€œThen letโ€™s dig. If weโ€™re going to dream of peace, we need to know what weโ€™re up against. And maybe, just maybe, the universe will conspire to help us expose the truth.โ€

As the rain pattered against the windows, the two friends sat in the glow of the lamplight, their conversation shifting between history, hope, and the challenge of dismantling systems built on war.
